HappilySingle™ vs Open Marriage vs Fake Monogamy – IMRAN™

Posted by imrananwar on May 12, 2017

I’m happily single, never married. I would consider marrying the person I fall in love with deep enough but do not feel the need to be married for the sake of being married.

I also joke that I am waiting to find my fourth beloved so that I can marry all four of my future wives together. (Muslim joke).

The reason I created the HappilySingle™ brand was to ridicule the fallacy of society’s “Happily Married” marketing of an obsolete failure of an institution, marriage. 50% end in divorce as we all know.

I believe at least 25% others are having affairs. Another 12.5% are staying together unhappily for the sake of the kids, or out of fear, or because divorce would be economically impractical.

In my opinion, maybe 12.5% couples can fall under the happily married umbrella.

I would ask the married ones among you which category you fall under but for obvious reasons no one would be able to speak the full truth.

I do have dear friends here who are in beautiful open marriages. So, when I saw this article in The New York Times, I had to share it here and ask your opinions on both the institution of marriage, non-traditional marriages, and non-marriage relationships (that often last longer than real marriages).

Tell me what you all think.

Shooting (Into & For The) Stars! – IMRAN™

Posted by imrananwar on February 19, 2016

I love flying. And I love even more visions of the universe, like shuddering lovers and shooting stars.

So I appreciated the video of a pilot flying over Manhattan capturing a shooting star in front of his plane. But as I was just going to post the video link, I realized something so profound that I shuddered in emotion at the incredible thoughts I felt, which I am sharing with you as they fill my soul.

I am blessed to see shooting stars on a fairly regular basis since I was a kid. But at least twice in my life, both times walking to the beach on the boardwalk of my blessed Long Island home, where I am writing these words, I saw such massive shooting stars, which stayed visible for literally 5-10 seconds each, they left me gasping for breath in amazement and excitement.

The most recent one was experienced while a beautiful beloved and I walked holding hands to my spot of magical memories on the private beach, on a late fall evening recently, when we were stunned by the sight which we were able to soak into our souls, and then commemorate, as two specks of living dust glowing forever, at the beach, under starlight, with our afterglow radiating and filling the vast emptiness of space with an explosive release of sizzling white-hot shooting photons of passion that some distant galaxy’s inhabitants may see one day millions of years in the future, and be amazed at how significantly we mortal human beings, insignificant in the scope of the universe, loved those significant to us.

The universal ultimate in exhibitionism, beyond what the human eye can see or any living voyeur today can experience. Magic stains left on fabric of time and space, for eternity…..

The previous time the shooting star had been even more massive… almost a poetic Armageddon sized fireball. I was on the phone with a then-girlfriend, and I literally was yelling “Oh my God, Oh MY God. Oh my God that shooting star is so massive falling out of the sky…”

Then it actually exploded, in a blaze of glory and left an even longer thinner streak of its probably millions of years of existence erased within seconds for possibly just Me, a mere mortal, to have witnessed in the entire universe at that moment!

What a moment… the infinitely long life of that starry object ending in just a few seconds of my much shorter human lifetime, but etched in my mind for all eternity, burned into the cosmos for even when I am nothing but a streak of light in the sky, when it is my time to turn into dust and starlight, just like the visions and passion of all those deep penetrating unions with my precious beloveds, consummated during hard daylight hours and in moist velvety nights, each a gift from the heavens, unwrapped, unsealed, probed, explored, experienced and resealed with a kiss, at the beach under starlight which will continue to travel through the universe forever, at the speed of love, and light.

God speed to us, my loves.

Happy Mother’s Day, Half Century Ago, Today And Forever – IMRAN™

Posted by imrananwar on May 11, 2014

My Late Mother And I, Happy Mother’s Day, A Half Century Ago, Captured By My Late Father. —

Beloved Ami Jan, as you look down from your place in heaven, on this and every Mother’s Day, please know that every day that has passed since you left too soon 22 years ago has been a day devoted to loving, missing and remembering you.

One day the number of years that you have been gone will exceed the number of days I was blessed with your love, your presence, your prayers in every aspect of my life.

But I promise you my love for you will continue to flow even more deeply in my soul and the tears that roll down my cheeks as I write these lines that have never let up, never dried, will mark the passing of all the days I have yearned for you to somehow be back, even if it meant exchanging the remaining days of my life for you to have a chance to live again.

Happy Mother’s Day, Ami, will be when God wills for me to walk up to you in the afterlife, and say, I am your son, and I hope I lived a life that was worthy of having been your son. I love you, forever and beyond, Ami.

Magical Dusk Seduces Me
With Sweet Surrenders Tonight,
As I Gaze Far Out,
To Intense And Deep
Long Coming Tomorrows,
And They All Promise
Even Deeper Submission,
Ever Bolder Embrace
Of My Every Wild Dream,
Demand And Mad Desire.
Come, Come, You All,
My Beautiful Mermaids,
My Stunning Angels,
Place Your Hands
Into Mine,
And Your Hearts
Next To Mine.
Seize The Day,
Embrace The Night,
Hold On Tight,
Come All The Way,
Into Loving Reality,
From Lusty Fantasy,
Hot Like The Fiery Sky,
And Glowing Stars Above,
Come Let’s All Melt As One
Into A Flowing Sea,
My Sea Of Love.

Every NoteBook Has An Ending. Make Yours Special. – IMRAN™

Posted by imrananwar on December 30, 2013

I am a very adventurous modern-day old fashioned romantic, in case some of my 50 shades of color writings don’t tell you that already.

But, maybe it was watching all those Pakistan romance movie my parents loved going to see, or just being a sappy fool at heart, despite being Happily Single™ (yes, I even sold T-shirts online with that logo) I also believe in sail-mates and soul-mates, and in living happily ever after.

My parents only got 32 years together before my Mom died at 50. Dad outlived her by nearly 17 years but never remarried.

So, even as guy who loves action flicks, I shed a few tears when I watched The Notebook.

If you thought The Notebook was a great movie, then you have to read this true story:

Married 62 years, Charlie & Helen Bridges died 3 days apart this month.

What do you think of true love, of devotion, of mad dedication, and, of a The End to the movie of our life, like this one?

The Young Woman And The Sea – IMRAN™

Posted by imrananwar on December 6, 2011

The Young Woman And The Sea - IMRAN™ by ImranAnwar

You Belong To The City by Glenn Frey is not just an inspired, amazing, timeless, poetic and rocking work of musical art, it is a song that, at one time or another, resonates with all of us as we pass through the stages in the play we call life. The song is even more special to me. It is one of the select songs I consider the soundtrack of my life.

It was thus ironic how quickly it came to mind when I met an old young beautiful intimate beloved friend, from recent years past, for an unexpected dinner and evening together. I had been planning to go to Smith Point beach to catch what was sure to be a beautiful sunset and dusk, when we connected on the phone after a very long time. So, we ended up going there together, a place we had last been several years ago, together, and with another love past and gone.

She, always patient, loving and caring, waited while I captured photos of the setting sun with my new Apple iPhone 4S. Not knowing I was watching her, she stood atop the forlorn log that had made the sands of Long Island its temporary home. And, I saw a moment that was as magical as it was timeless.

The Young Woman And The Sea, I said to myself as I clicked.

The wide angle view from an external lens I was testing on my new iPhone, the moment, the lighting, the log, the way the sun reflected on her golden tresses from the right, and the incredible way the tide had made the sand flow in the shape of angel wings around the log she stood on, I saw a timeless and absolutely unique moment in time…. a surreal almost masterpiece-like painting of life, accidentally brought to life, etched into memory, and now captured for the ages, by a mere cell phone camera.

I quickly snapped this photo and, later, at home, as I imported it into iPhoto, something struck a powerful chord….

We had been going through amazingly tumultuous and yet interesting and wonderful times in our respective lives when we last met and shared many wonderful experiences. And, as time, life, circumstances, people, events and fate dealt their hands, their blows, their stabs, it meant we continued our separate, still event-filled, surreal, sometimes happy, sometimes sad, journeys through life, until we got together again tonight. As these thoughts passed through my mind, in my ears Glenn’s voice rang out truly, how “So much has happened, but nothing has changed”.

As I pasted the lyrics to that wonderful song below for your pleasure, I could not resist but tweak some of the words (I hope the Text shows how I replaced some of the words {strike-through font} with ones even more suited to this moment {shown in bold}).

As you, gentle readers, dear friends, lovers old, new and future, read these words, just know, your most difficult, arduous, lonely journey is shared with me. It is shared by those you love, loved and will love. We may not be on the same part of the road, or hitting the same bumps at the same exact time, but, sooner or later, our paths will cross. I will take your hand, and be there for you. I promise.

One day, you will look back on the cold stormy nights and know that you did make it… because….

You Belong To The City

The sun goes down
The night rolls in
You can feel it starting all over again
The moon comes up
And the music ocean calls
You’re getting tired of staring at the same four walls
You’re out of your room
And down on the street beach
Moving through the crowds sand through the midnight heat winter freeze
The traffic ocean roars
And the sirens seagulls scream
You look at the faces waves, its just like a dream

Nobody know where you’re going
Nobody cares where you’ve been

‘Cause you belong to the city
You belong to the night
Living in a river of darkness, beneath the neon moon light
You were borne in on the city sea-tree
Concrete Sand under your feet
It’s in your blood, its in your moves
You’re a woman of the street beach

When you said goodbye
You were on the run
Tryin’ to get away from the things you’d done
Now you’re back again
And you’re feeling strange
So much has happened, but nothing has changed

You still don’t know where you’re going
You’re still just a face in the crowd

‘Cause you belong to the city

You can feel it
You can taste it
You can see it
You can face it
You can hear it
You’re getting near it
You want to make it
‘Cause you can take it.

You belong to the city
You were borne in on the city sea-tree!

Unrequited Love by Imran Anwar

Posted by imrananwar on September 9, 2009

Must Read: "Unrequited Love" - IMRAN™

You can almost reach out and touch the moon and run your fingers gently on her aging, aged, ageless but scarred face, where times, and passing suitors it disdained, left their marks, with you, the reader, wondering if a gentle tear from a secret subterrainian river will gush forth, as it silently tells the story of its endless, eternal, inescapable love for the blue planet it is forever intertwined with, but desinted never to meet, lest it be a deadly last waltz that would spell doom for both, in a deadly one night stand, a flash of explsoive passion, with the earth’s oceans of life-giving liquids gushing forth into the skies, escaping into a climax of everything and a vast nothingness at once… such is the eternal dance of unrequited love of star crossed lovers and planets and moons. Feel it.

Hi & Low & Behold & Hold, Bold And So Happy Together

Posted by imrananwar on August 9, 2009

So Happy Together - Love/Life Can't Be More Perfect - IMRAN™

Taken around my birthday at a time I was facing some unexpected challenges, about to leave my Singer Island, Palm Beach condo at the Tiara, in 2004, this photo of two lovers, rising up to ride high, but below my balcony on the 37th floor, just always brings a smile to my face. Even though I can fly planes and love boating, this is one activity I am yet to do. I can hardly wait to do it with someone special one day. Words from the song by The Turtles, So Happy Together, just ring out in my ears from this picture.
