FireBall Sky, Flaming Horizon, Pink Cloud Cruise - IMRAN™

This cruise ship was literally more than 20 miles away when I captured it going past where the sun was totally behind it and clouds. The Nikon D300 handheld photo at 300/450mm eq. zoom shows the magic even of “dull” sunsets over Tampa Bay, seen from my blessed home at Apollo Beach. The trees to the left are straight across from my home but a long drive to get to at a popular state park, at the edge of the peninsula there.

Paragliding To The Moon At Magical Dusk – IMRAN™

..one of most vivid recent sunsets I had enjoyed..

It was one of most vivid recent sunsets I had enjoyed at my blessed home’s private beach on the Great South Bay. As I was capturing the magical colors I saw a paraglider take off in the distance. I have seen him show off a it when he sees me taking pictures, so I got to see him fly by pretty close, do a few showing off turns, as I was able to frame him with the still newish moon shining in the blue sky above a golden red dusk on the deep golden blue water. The song Gonna Fly Now from the movie Rocky seems to be a good fit!

Stunning pastels underscore vivid golden bursts of magic in the sky

Stunning pastels underscore vivid golden bursts of magic in the sky at dusk over my blessed home beach on Long Island, New York, in East Patchogue. The private beach is secluded and seductive as the Great South Bay’s gentle waters roll in to my feet.

Falling For Fall As Sun Falls Below NY Horizon – IMRAN™

Stunning Long Island New York Beach At Home Imran Anwar

As the cold air starts to creep in from the North, the sun starts to slide to set more over the water than land on the South Shore of Long Island, New York. The moisture squeezed out of the air also makes for crisper cooler air to breathe in but also for sharper photographs. Dusk scene at my blessed home beach in NY, taken with my new WindowsPhone Lumia 1020.

Reason #1 That I Don’t Get Anything Done! Life Is A Beach! – IMRAN™

Yet, for all that, there are moments, even hours and days, when there can be no better way to savor one’s blessings than to do nothing but soak in God’s gift all around all day, and then take a break!

Life is neither a bed of roses, nor a day at the beach. As a matter of fact, as I took this photo with my iPhone 4S, with the late summer Atlantic rip tide churning near my feet, I was contemplative.

The weekend brought with it an unexpected twist, an as yet unresolved challenge, which in context of history in my family is a matter of concern. But, as I sat in the wet sand, the reddish summer dusk starting its moody glow over my shoulder, I realized how blessed I am, have been, and, God willing, will be, until it is my time to go.

In the meantime, there is never a moment that I do not want to waste the opportunity to play with words, to jest with life, to mock fate….

A twist on a “Wish You Were Here” card came to mind, especially as it gave me an excuse to make excuses for all the excuses I cannot make for all the things in life I need to get done, but procrastinate away the precious hours. 🙂

Yet, for all that, there are moments, even hours and days, when there can be no better way to savor one’s blessings than to do nothing but soak in God’s gift all around all day, and then take a break!

All the best to you, all, my friends.

Grains Of Sand In The Sky

Grains Of Sand In The Sky

by Imran Anwar

(Dedicated on August 21-22, 2009,
To the memory of my beloved father, Anwar-uud-din.
Born Aug 22, 1931 he left us December 21, 2008)

Over the waves’ mighty roar
On a weather beaten shore
Sounds of pebbles and rocks I find
The tides of time that eternally grind

At first, I defiantly bravely stand
Before long humbly kneel in sand
Here I stand on an infinite brink
Near knowledge of a magical link

The ripples sing an endless refrain
Remember, Every fine sandy grain
Does an amazing secret nurse
It too is center of the universe

Under feet on a sandy beach
From far beyond its tiny reach
It too feels a tug from eons afar
Its tiny core yearns to be a star.

On the edge of the wavy bay
At the end of the shiny day
I look up at the darkening sky
Where stars live and meteors die

At this eternal moment in time
No timeless words, no rhyme
No complex grand theory of chaos
Explain a simple truth of cosmos

I realize it’s so very true
Nothing even the Sun can do
To any way stop or stall
The certainty of nightfall

Darkness around, near and far
Defied by a single shining star
A turning, blinking distant firefly
A burning grain of sand in the sky!

Fire Bird Birth From Fiery Sun & Dark Clouds, The Razor’s Edge Of Hope & Miracle

Vision of life, hope, dreams, and more.

Fire Bird Birth From Fiery Sun OR Flying Into A Dark But Bright Future - IMRAN™

Fire Bird Birth From Fiery Sun OR Flying Into A Dark But Bright Future?

Is it the birth by fire of a new Fire Bird? Or a dark angel looming above, bringing misgivings? Or the power of dreams flying into a dark, monstrous, malevolent cloud formation — just beyond which is the promise of pure light and brightness. And just beyond that, visions of God?

The thunder cloud’s malevolence separated from the life-giving sun by the razor edge of hope and miracle. A possibility of coming out from storms into the light, however briefly, at least until the final sunset on a life of fantastic flights of fantasy.

Or a little bit of it all?

Smith Point Beach in Long Island, NY is a favorite place of mine to catch sunsets over expansive vistas of water. This time we were there ahead of time and I shot some pictures waiting for the sun to set.

As this bird came towards me, somewhat like the apparition of one Alexander the Great sees in the movie ALEXANDER, the silhouette came into focus. I clicked and snapped a mesmerizing image.
