I am blessed to have a second home in this wonderful community called Symphony Isles, in a little piece of heaven called Apollo Beach, in a magical land known as Florida, in a great nation called the United States of America.

As a Muslim obviously Christmas is not a religious holiday to me (nor does it have anything to do with the birth date of Jesus Christ) but I celebrate it as a national holiday in the USA as I did in Pakistan where it was the birthday of the founder of the nation, as well as my late mother’s birthday.

I just wanted to share this quiet drive home through the neighborhood with its lovely holiday lights. I sped up the playback to save time, I was not speeding. LOL.

It’s A Bird, It’s A Plane, It’s The First Sunset Of 2009

The sun looks burning hot, the bird gives a sense of warmth, while passengers in the JFK bound jet in the distance must be feeling cozy – but this was the coldest temperature photo I have ever taken.

It was 22 degrees F (with blustery winds making for a windchill of near Zero) at Fire Island National Seashore on Long Island, New York. It was a new year but different from previous years.

The first sunset of 2009 burned itself into memory for tomorrows as memories of another kind flood my heart and mind, of the many new year’s days spent with my beloved parents, who are now both gone forever.
